Waypoints

The Waypoints stream is a default place to store your waypoints.
Waypoints is a stream that keeps all new waypoints that you create without choosing a stream, for example on a map opened from the start screen.
The Waypoints stream will spring to life when you delete it and create the next waypoint. Apart from this, the Waypoints stream is a stream just like any other. For example, you can star or unstar the stream to show it while viewing other streams.
Creating Waypoints
There are several ways to create a new waypoint. You can then select the waypoint as a target and navigate to it.
- In a stream, tap the plus button and open the Waypoint tab (see the Streams chapter). Or type into “Add a message” on the Post card and tap send, which creates a message at your current location.
- In Portable Maps, tap and hold the map to create a cursor, open the dial menu and select Edit and then Add. Edit also has a button that creates a waypoint from a contact. Both work on the classic map and on the new map.
- In Google Maps, select Add Waypoint from the menu and tap on the map, or select it twice to create a waypoint at your current location. Find Contact and Search also find locations that you can turn into waypoints.
- Tap a geo link, for example on a web page, and choose Show on Map (GPS Essentials). Portable Maps marks the location; select the mark, open the dial menu and select Edit and then Add to keep it.
- Import waypoints from a GPX, KML, KMZ, LOC or MFT file.
The Camera creates pictures with your location, not waypoints.
When you create a new waypoint closer than the Waypoint Overwrite Distance in Settings to an existing one, the existing one is overwritten.
To find waypoints again, give them tags (see the Tags chapter) or search the stream.
