Appendix B: Error Reports
When GPS Essentials runs into a problem it did not expect, it can send an error report to Google Firebase Crashlytics. Reports help us find and fix the problem. Nothing is sent unless you allow it, and there is no email report anymore.
You decide in Settings under Error Reporting:
- Ask before sending (the default): the report is kept on your device. Whenever a screen of GPS Essentials comes to the front while reports wait to be sent, the app asks: Send, Don't send, or Always send, which also changes the setting. Dismissing the question keeps the reports for next time.
- Always send: reports are sent without asking.
- Never send: nothing is sent, and kept reports are deleted.
A report describes the error and where in the app it happened. It also contains the app version, the device model and build, the Android version, the language and region, display and input settings, the mobile network country and operator codes, and a device identifier that is specific to GPS Essentials. If the problem happened during an import, it also says which app and which storage provider the file came from, but not the file name. Reports contain no locations and none of your data.
If you want to tell us more about a problem, write to michael@mictale.com. The Version and Device ID at the top of the app's help home page help us find your report.
